For Hailey Leech, winning a race during an open skate at X-treme Wheels in Crystal Lake when she was 8 provided a springboard into the world of competitive inline speedskating.
Leech received a speedskating lesson as a prize for the win. Now 13 and an eighth grader at Lundahl Middle School in Crystal Lake, she will train for a week this month at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as a member of the U.S. National Team.

Inline marathon returns to Dome
Some people might walk a full lap around the Metrodome's narrow upper concourse in search of a short bathroom line. On Saturday, though, laps around that concourse will have a much more official and pleasant purpose: the Metrodome Inline Marathon.
