Forestview teen returns to competitive skating after taking year off

The next two weeks will be some of the greatest ever in the life of 17-year-old Katie Wilson. She will graduate from Forestview High School, turn 18 and return to competitive inline skating, something she hasn't done in more than a year.
Wilson, a Junior Olympics gold medalist and record-holder in the two-mix relay, won't celebrate her big moments just yet. She has something to accomplish first.
"I've been training for seven solid months," she said. "I've had to go back on a strict diet, work out almost every day and train nonstop. I know I'm ready for regional competition."
Her life has taken a backseat to her skating goals. She has skated with a broken vertebra and broken arm, received countless floor burns, and she occasionally missed out on being a teen because of her training.
Her next competition will be no different.
