Asheville referee hopes to build skating complex

ASHEVILLE — Asheville resident Joe Robinson has some friends in high places. Refereeing at 16 national inline skating championships will do that.

Robinson, 45, has befriended skaters like Olympic gold medalist Derek Parra and world champions Jennifer Rodriguez and Darlene Kessinger, who has lived in Greenville, S.C., throughout a lifelong skating career.
